Sahiwal (säˈhĭväl), city (1998 pop. 207,388), E central Pakistan, on the Lower Bari Doab Canal. It is a district administrative headquarters, connected by road and rail to Lahore, and a market for food grains and cotton. Two colleges affiliated with the Univ. of the Punjab are in Sahiwal.

Sahiwal
formerly Montgomery), a city in Pakistan, in Punjab Province, on the Bari Doab Canal. Population, 115,000 (1972). Sahiwal has a railroad station and is an important trade center for the surrounding agricultural region. The city has a number of cotton mills.
