Among the casualties over recent years are some of Huddersfield's best known pubs including The
Flyboat at Aspley and The Spotted Cow at Salendine Nook.

flyboat, which left the port of Batavia (now Jakarta) for The Netherlands with a 109-member crew on board, the expedition leader Attila K.

In the past there were seven pubs in a half-mile stretch: The New Wharf, the
Flyboat, the Somerset Arms, the Green Cross, the Jolly Sailor, the Brooks Arms and the Ivy Green.
Planners will decide this week if The
Flyboat at Aspley can be converted into student flats.
That's the view of local residents who have launched a campaign to try to prevent the old
Flyboat pub in Colne Street being turned into university housing.
