Camisia lapponica (Tragardh, -- 1910) Car abodes coriaceus Koch, -- 1835 ** C.
The pilgrims were attracted by the cathedral's relics of the Virgin Mary, which included her veil, but more importantly La Sainte Chemise, or in Latin Sancta
Camisia. Often bashfully translated into English as the Holy Tunic, it was the undergarment that Mary was believed to have been wearing while she gave birth to the baby Jesus.
It is said to be the resting place of the Sancta
Camisia, the sacred garment supposed to have been worn by when she gave birth to Jesus.
Though her dress resembles antique costume, particularly in its belting, which Poliphilo likens to the zone of Venus, it is also contemporary; since her undergarment is alternatively named a
camisia, or the synonymous Latin term interula.
