Mercutio thinks Romeo a bit over the edge, as he mocks his friend's attempts to celebrate his love in poetry: "Now is he for the numbers that Petrarch flowed in: Laura to his lady was a kitchen-wench--marry, she had a better love to berhyme her--Dido a dowdy" (Romeo and Juliet, 2.3.30-31).
