The primary depositional environments of these diverse Md1 dolomites varied from microbial reefs (or buildups) to ooidal shoal which could have aggraded to the tidal flat (Figure 1(b)).
Post-wildfire erosion aggraded tributary streams, clouded and filled some of the reservoirs with sediment and aggravated flooding in the lower river, reducing fishing success to near zero for a few years.
Stabilization reduces erosion, and it minimizes the need for maintenance to dredge aggraded sediments downstream and to protect endangered infrastructure.
The Spiti River, in the drier NW Himalaya, showed deviation nad aggraded till ~6 ka and the published records of palaeolandslide chronology in this region suggests that the valley aggradation was largely controlled by climate controlled phases of excessive landslides.
Stable oxygen isotope analysis of the segregation ice in the glaciolacustrine sediments has uniform [[delta].sup.18]O values (-24.5 [+ or -] 0.1%o; n = 9; Lacelle, 2002) similar to those of pore water extracted from sediments deposited by glacial Lake Agassiz (Remenda et al., 1994), indicating that permafrost aggraded through the freshly exposed sediments before the onset of the early Holocene warm interval.
